Ice Edge on brink of buying Coyotes (AP)

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says the Ice Edge investment group is on the brink of buying the financially floundering Phoenix Coyotes from the NHL. The group and the NHL are expected to sign a letter of intent soon, perhaps by this weekend, said the source, who asked not to be identified because the official announcement had not been made.

Red Wings F Cleary out about a month (AP)

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock says Dan Cleary will be out for about a month because of a separated shoulder. Cleary was injured Wednesday night in Detroit's loss to the St. Louis Blues. The forward has 16 points this season, trailing Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk on the team. Cleary had 40-plus points the previous three seasons for the Red Wings.
