Lugo still trying to make return
Sportsline [09/19/2008]
Red Sox SS Julio Lugo, out since July 12 with a strained left quad, suffered a setback last month and has struggled to regain his health. "He's trying so hard to get in a game before our regular season is over," manager Terry Francona said. "I don't know if it's realistic or not. He's trying."

Schilling blasts Manny for behavior in Boston
Sportsline [09/18/2008]
Injured Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said former teammate Manny Ramirez's behavior in Boston was a drain on his teammates and disrespectful to manager Terry Francona.

Aardsma to pitch in rehab Tuesday
Sportsline [09/07/2008]
Red Sox manager Terry Francona said left-handed reliever David Aardsma, out since July 19 with a right groin strain, will pitch at least an inning in relief for Class A Lowell in a playoff game Tuesday night.

Hansack called up for bullpen depth
Sportsline [09/07/2008]
The Red Sox recalled right-hander Devern Hansack from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday to strengthen their bullpen. Hansack was 6-10 with a 4.08 ERA in 25 starts for Pawtucket, but manager Terry Francona said he planned to use Hansack in relief. "It gives our bullpen some depth, in case something happens, somebody takes a ball off a shin," Francona said. "And he's throwing the ball well. The last outing was about as well as he's thrown the ball so we're getting him at a time when he's hot."

Beckett, Lowell make impact in return (AP)
Yahoo Sports [09/05/2008]

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Hideki Okajima, of Japan, delivers to the Texas Rangers in the ninth inning of a Major League Baseball game, Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, in Arlington, Texas. Okajima pitched one inning giving up two hits and one run in the 8-1 Red Sox win.

Josh Beckett showed the Boston Red Sox exactly what they hoped to see in his first start in nearly three weeks. The five scoreless innings were just a bonus. Beckett struck out seven and allowed only four singles, helping Boston beat the Texas Rangers 8-1 on Friday night. "When he left the game, he didn't feel anything," manager Terry Francona said.
