Richard Hamilton says he will play for the Detroit Pistons against the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. After shooting Friday morning with the team, Hamilton said he had discomfort in his right elbow, but would play through it because the Pistons need to win to avoid elimination. Detroit's leading scorer strained his right elbow in the final seconds of Boston's 106-102 win on Wednesday night. Hamilton is averaging 21.

The Detroit Pistons don't know if Richard Hamilton will be healthy enough to play against the Boston Celtics on Friday. Detroit's leading scorer strained his right elbow in the final seconds of Boston's 106-102 win on Wednesday night. X-rays were negative, and Hamilton's arm was in a sling as he left the arena. Coach Flip Saunders says Hamilton is scheduled for an evaluation Thursday, but his status won't be determined until Friday when the Pistons host the Celtics in Game 6.

The Orlando Magic may have improved this offseason, though still not enough to beat Detroit yet. Even if the Pistons are without Richard Hamilton, and even though they played the night before. Chauncey Billups had 18 points and seven assists Friday night, and the Pistons won their second straight without their leading scorer, 116-92.
