Howard, Dobbs HRs back Blanton to win (AP)
Yahoo Sports [08/02/2008]

Philadelphia Phillies' Greg Dobbs celebrates with third base coach Steve Smith after hitting a solo home run in the third inning against the St. Louis Cardinals in a baseball game Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, in St. Louis.

Albert Pujols was one of five St. Louis Cardinals who took a called third strike against Joe Blanton. It was a solid indicator that the Phillies' right-hander was on his game. Blanton won for the first time since joining Philadelphia in a mid-July trade with the Athletics, riding home runs from Ryan Howard and Greg Dobbs to a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.

If he manages to snag a Mets' roster spot away from the likes of Joe Smith, Matt Wise and several others, Steven Register could be here to stay.

The stuff of legend
ESPN [08/20/2007]
It doesn't matter if he ends up closer to Willie Smith than either Babe Ruth or Smokey Joe Wood . He doesn't worry about people he's never heard of or ghosts of baseball past that he can't fathom. "I ...
