Big Ben has career year in 2007
Sportsline [01/25/2008]
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger had a career season in 2007. He passed for 3,495 yards and set a career-high with 34 touchdown passes. His previous career-high was 18. Roethlisberger also had 14 interceptions and rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Big Ben enjoyed playing for new offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who allowed him more passing in the red zone. One thing Big Ben would like is another wide receiver, particularly with more height. "I'm always going to ask for a tall receiver," Roethlisberger said in an interview with the Post-Gazette. "That's just me. Our receivers are unbelievable, but our tallest guy might be Hines (Ward). Or Santonio (Holmes). Hines is going to say he's 6 foot, but he's 5-11."

Hines Ward has knee surgery
Sportsline [01/10/2008]
Steelers WR Hines Ward underwent surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee and will need about six weeks of recovery time before beginning offseason workouts. The surgery was done Wednesday, but was not disclosed until coach Mike Tomlin's season-ending news conference Thursday. Ward missed three games this season because of the injury, including the Dec. 30 game at Baltimore. He returned to make a game-high 10 catches for 135 yards in the Steelers' 31-29 AFC playoff loss to Jacksonville on Saturday.
