Volquez pitches Reds over Cardinals (AP)
Yahoo Sports [08/17/2008]

Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto hits a single that scored Corey Patterson off St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Ryan Franklin in the eighth inning of a baseball game in Cincinnati on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. The Reds won 7-3.

A little rest was all that Edinson Volquez needed. A revived Volquez pitched seven shutout innings and traded up-and-in fastballs with counterpart Kyle Lohse on Sunday, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-3 victory that ended the St. Louis Cardinals' four-game winning streak. Despite getting only three hits off Volquez (15-5), the Cardinals headed home in a good frame of mind.

Rick Ankiel sure looked healthy on his first home run in three weeks. Still fighting off the effects of an abdominal strain, Ankiel hit a two-run shot off Bronson Arroyo that helped the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 on Friday night for their third straight win. The Cardinals have stayed in wild-card contention by winning five of their last seven despite another setback to their...

Yahoo Sports [08/05/2008]

Cincinnati Reds center fielder Corey Patterson catches a fly ball hit by Milwaukee Brewers' Ray Durham for an out in the seventh inning of a baseball game Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Cincinnati. Milwaukee won 8-1.

Prince Fielder knows the best way to say you're sorry. The first baseman made amends by apologizing for his dugout outburst the previous night, then hit a two-run homer Tuesday that helped the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-1 and quickly move beyond the ugly altercation. The Brewers were on their best behavior a day after Fielder shoved pitcher Manny Parra in the dugout during a...

Billingsley ends Dodgers' 5-game skid (AP)
Yahoo Sports [06/17/2008]

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Angel Berroa tags out Cincinnati Reds' Corey Patterson (23), who was trying to steal second base in the first inning of a baseball game Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Cincinnati.

Right-hander Chad Billingsley took a shutout into the seventh inning Tuesday night, and the Los Angeles Dodgers held on for a 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds that ended a five-game losing streak set up by paltry offense. Billingsley (4-8) provided a huge boost on an otherwise ominous day for the Dodgers' rotation.
