AUSTIN KEARNS NEWS

Milledge hits 2 homers, Nats top Rockies (AP)
Yahoo Sports [08/07/2008]

Washington Nationals' Lastings Milledge, front, celebrates as he crosses home plate after hitting a two-run home run against the Colorado Rockies in the sixth inning of the Nationals' 6-3 victory in a baseball game in Denver on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008. Nationals' Austin Kearns, back, looks on. The game is the first of two between the teams on Thursday after a postponement because of rain on Wednesday.

Jeff Francis hoped to get his season turned around Thursday. Lastings Milledge spoiled that plan. Milledge homered twice and drove in a career-high four runs, and Jason Bergmann earned his first win in nearly three months to help the Washington Nationals beat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Washington Nationals' Cristian Guzman (15) slides home to score against Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero (26) on a hit by Austin Kearns during the 10th inning of a baseball game Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Washington. The Diamondbacks won 7-5 in 11 innings.

The Arizona Diamondbacks blew a two-run lead in the ninth and a three-run lead in the 10th Thursday night before finally putting away the Washington Nationals with two in the 11th for a wild 7-5 victory. Stephen Drew hit a one-out RBI double and Chad Tracy added a run-scoring single with two outs -- both off Luis Ayala (1-5) -- for the decisive runs as the Diamondbacks overcame numerous follies to...

Yahoo Sports [07/04/2008]

Washington Nationals Austin Kearns walks of the field after striking out in the eighth inning of a baseball game, Friday July 4 2008, in Cincinnati.

Ken Griffey Jr.'s first career at-bat against Jason Bergmann was a good one. Griffey hit a two-run homer off Bergmann to get Cincinnati off to a fast start and Bronson Arroyo worked six innings, sending the Reds to a 3-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday. Griffey followed Jay Bruce's one-out double in the first with a 344-foot line drive that bounced off an advertising sign over the...
